Beijing - Settlement Practitioner/Information Officer 

Title: Settlement Practitioner/Information Officer (Full Time 40 hours per week)

Location: S.U.C.C.E.S.S. Beijing Office

Address: 11F NewLogo Building D, A18 South Zhongguancun Rd, Haidian District, Beijing, China

Report to: AEIP Service Centre Manager - Beijing

Nature: AEIP Pre-arrival Settlement Practitioner delivers pre-arrival settlement services to IRCC selected / approved immigrants and ensures a continuity of post arrival services. Successful candidate will be hired under PRC local employment terms and conditions.

Duties for Settlement Practitioner:

1. Provides one-on- one consultation to newcomers and their family members to address individual settlement needs and helps them make informed settlement decisions through in-person or online services

2. Plans, organizes and delivers pre-departure orientation workshops focusing on Canadian systems, culture and labour market as to familiarize the newcomers with available resources in the community and to enhance their adjustment in the Canadian society

3. Conducts orientation and themed workshops on specific settlement and employment subjects to immigrant clients in China

4. Designs and conducts Job Search Programs to newcomers, reviews and edits Cover Letters and Resumes, conducts mock interviews for newcomer job seekers.

5. Collaborates with community service providers in Canada to deliver Community Orientation Webinars on overview of Canadian Police Force, school system, community resources, etc. through the AEIP Virtual Service Centre

6. Works collaboratively with S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’ Canadian Partners through Virtual Service Centre to deliver provincial specific workshops to clients

7. Connects clients with S.U.C.C.E.S.S.’ Canadian Partner for one-on- one consultation on provincial specific preparation prior to departing to Canada

8. Follow ups with clients who landed in Canada for outcomes and evaluation

9. Promotes and markets the program to suitable contacts within the business, community, non-profit and public sector

10. Participates in staff meetings for the purpose of sharing information and coordinating activities, improving efficiencies and effectiveness

11. Document client needs, action items, progress notes and outcomes to a secure client database system and iCare for referral, report and evaluation purposes

12. Maintains and prepares current and accurate statistics and records in order to assist the Service Centre Manager in meeting funder’s requirements in program monitoring, planning and budgeting

13. Other related duties as and when required

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science
  • Eligible to work in Beijing, China; fluent in English and Chinese
  • Familiar with the life and social systems of Quebec, Canada, fluent in French is an asset
  • Experienced in working with immigrants to Canada
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of settlement and labour market information and resources in Canada
  • Knowledgeable of the systems and culture of Canada
  • Experienced in one-on- one settlement service delivery; knowledge of Case Management process is an asset
  • Experienced in conducting workshops and hosting events
  • Strong communication (written / verbal) and group facilitation skills; demonstrated active listening skills
  • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal and intercultural communication techniques
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite, Internet research and database system management
  • Excellent time and resource management skills
  • Able to work independently as well as a great team player
  • Able to work with individuals and communities facing cultural adjustment challenges
  • Able to travel to different locations in China
  • Able to work evenings and weekends
  • Proof of clear criminal record

Duration: July 15, 2017 – March 31, 2018, subject to probation and funding availability

Salary: RMB180,000 - RMB240,000 per annum
