Position Title: Commercial Officer, LE-08, Québec Office in Beijing

Starting Annual Gross Salary: RMB 244,991 (before tax and employee social insurance contributions; 13 th month bonus and employer social insurance contributions are paid on top of the gross salary; salary is non-negotiable)

Area of selection:
This position is open to external applicants residing in China and employees occupying an indeterminate or term position in China Missions who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date.
Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Beijing at own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Beijing at their own expense.
Job summary:
As a member of the Department of Economic Affairs, you will help to promote Québec's international trade by, among other things, developing and sharing market knowledge; providing services, advice and information to clients; establishing relationships with clients and local contacts; solving problems as they arise, as well as planning and holding activities.
Mandatory requirements:
Education:
- Minimum a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, OR an acceptable equivalent through the combination of education and work experience
Language:
- Proficiency in French (reading, writing, listening and speaking)
- Proficiency in Mandarin (reading, writing, listening and speaking)
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, listening and speaking)
Experience:
- Minimum five years’ recent experience in international commerce, trade promotion and investment attraction
- Experience in interacting with government offices and international companies and organizations
- Experience in working with visiting business and/or government delegations
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of international business (exporting, importing, investment, technology transfer and commercialization)
- Working knowledge of key industry sectors in Québec
- Working knowledge of industry sectors, provincial and municipal government and key business and professional associations in north China regions
Abilities/skills:
- Ability to identify the business leads, such as investment or trade and ability to track and ability to close the deal
- Ability to utilize the most up-to- date communication technology to enhance her/his presentation
- Ability to write effective business correspondence and business or event reports in French and Chinese
- Ability to research, interpret sources of information and synthesize data to respond to requests for information from clients
- Ability to provide concise summary of different source of information to her/his supervisor and to present key messages of Québec to the Chinese audience
- Ability to perform translation and interpretation from Chinese to French and vice versa

Conditions of Employment
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China. Per Chinese regulations, the Embassy / Consulates can only facilitate working visas for Canadian citizens
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid “Reliability Status” security clearance
Operational Requirement:
- Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
